Cheers!
Ahh the smell of Guinness and cigars in the morning...er night.
On the 29th we celebrated my boy's 30th Bday, yes the Big Three-O!
When asked what he wanted he said two words "The Pub".
As in, he wanted to go there.
So we went!
With our roomate, his friend, and two of my boy and mine's mutual friends (we'll call my boy Monk from now on), we headed to the Pub for a night of food and drinks (not for me, I was the DD!!).
We knew the wait would be long, but when we heard and Hour and 40 min at most we didn't panic. Monk suggested we go next door.
We hopped to the cigar bar, located conveniently next door and got a drink and played a few rounds of pool.
Now I have to admit, it was a long wait! They don't take reservations so unless you are willing to wait upwards of 2 hours on a Friday night, then send someone early to put your names down! And if you don't like the Florida August Muggys, ask for an inside area.
But if you are willing to wait as long as it takes, hang around and have a pint then it's worth it!
I wanted to save room for dessert so when we filled up on yummy Curry Chips (yes, I said Curry!) I decided to stick with another starter to fill my belly and save room for sweets.
I've had their brew's before, and they have a yummy and interesting selection, but being the DD the other night I had to stick with some good ol' rootbeer instead! (get it? Beer? lol)
I ordered the Spicy Jamaican Jerk Shirmp. Oodles of sauteed shrimp in tomatoes, scallions and cheese grated on top. Super SUPER spicy but divine!
All served with little baguette slices, toasted and seasoned for perfect dipping capacity.
It was enough to make me full, and though my mouth was on fire for hours after - I enjoyed every spicy bite! (and I usually HATE spicy food!).
Monk went with good ol' Banger's N Mash. It was awesome. Two plump bangers (that sounds so wrong), with fluffy whipped mash. I kept eating his potatoes!
Another person went with the Turkey & Cream cheese Panini.
A big ol' sandwich of Smoked Turkey, creamy cream cheese, red onions and some cranberry sauce all on a French Baguette.
She savored every bite!
And for dessert?
Three of my compadres shared a big helping of a Guinness Brownie Sundae.
Though it was tempting, I went with the lighter Tipsy Laird.
Raspberries, Strawberries and I think Blueberries all sauteed with brandy, served on top of fried (yes Fried!) poud cake and surrounded by a delictible ocean of authentic English Custard.
Heaven!
I couldn't even finish the desert (the Brownie was attacked by 3 people, I did the Laird on my own!)... and between a couple pints of everything between Guiness to a yummy Cider we all left fully and happy!
I will definitely go here again, but next time... someone else is driving. I'll be trying a few drinks of my own!!!!
Negatives: It was hard to find parking, though we found some. The shopping center it's located in is wonderful but popular and gets packed!
It was nearly a 2 hour wait. Oh, and they don't currently take reservations which sucks cause I would have put one in so we didn't have to wait so long.
Positives: The food has been great both time's we've gone, so are the drinks. The service is usually pretty good for such a busy place and guys and gals walking around in kilts (the guys usually in authentic kilts and the girls usually in those itty bitty kinds) is the perfect eye candy for the cheery masses!
You can be seated inside and outside or just chill by the bar for a few drinks if you fancy.
The decor is fantastic and the atmosphere casual and playful.
Cheers!!!!
